Obituary

Sassy Pants (Sassy) time with her human and feline siblings was incredibly special, yet entirely too short. Eight and a half years was not long enough.

Sassy chose her human on April 16, 2018. She was welcomed home just four days later.

Everyone says that Sassy Pants was lucky to have chosen the human that she did. Sassy’s human was really the lucky one.

Sassy’s human was not looking to adopt a new cat when Sassy happened to be laying belly up in a cage at a pet store waiting to find her human. It was by chance that her human stumbled upon her and everything after happened the way it was supposed to.

Sassy was the most beloved girl. She loved and was loved unconditionally. Sassy’s personality was how she gained her name. She was always determined to be the queen and that she was.

Sassy Pants lost her feline brother Buggs in 2021 and soon welcomed her baby brother Ellis. Sassy and Ellis quickly became the best of friends. She was his nurturer and he was her most loyal protector. They had a bond that will never be broken.

Sassy was fiercely loyal, loved butterflies and lady bugs, laying in the grass and enjoying a green snack, belly rubs, giving her human bunny kicks, laying belly up and showing the world her perfect belly, hunting anything that moved, soaking up the sun, chattering at birds, watching squirrels, playing with her tailless mice and springs, eating crunchy treats and Churu, Cat TV, chin scratches, giving herself and baby brother a good bath, making biscuits and purring the loudest purr, hiding in her tunnel toys, rubbing her chin on everything to leave her scent, snuggling with her human and crawling under the blankets of her humans bed of a cold day, chasing her feline sister, letting any dog that visited her home know that she was the boss, and snuggling and loving on her feline brothers. She was always up for the paparazzi, unwillingly letting her human dress her up for pictures for every holiday and perfectly posing for every picture. Her memories while engraved in our hearts and minds are backed up by thousands of pictures and videos.

More than anything, Sassy Pants was a fighter. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor on January 31, 2024. Sassy was incredibly sick and the hope for even short-term survival was minimal. Her only chance at survival with a good quality of life was radiation. Sassy’s brain tumor was the largest her radiation oncologist had even seen in a cat. The expectation was that it would shrink by around 30%. Sassy decided she was going to show everyone what she was made of. Her tumor shrunk by 90%! She needed a little extra radiation a year after the first round to remind her tumor that she was still the boss and the one in control. The life expectancy following radiation was 14 months. Sassy Pants survived 30.5 months! Sassy surpassed expectations that no one ever imagined. She had a will to live like no other and she was a feline superhero in her own right.

Sassy Pants brought so much love, joy, entertainment, and in the end heartbreak to her human and feline siblings. Sassy chose a human that fights the fight until end, just like Sassy did. Sassy’s journey brought so many unknowns and lessons. Lessons her human never knew she needed to learn. Sassy’s journey may have ended, but her human and the incredible team of vets who cared for her will take the lessons she left behind and share them with anyone who needs hope.

Sassy is and will always be incredibly loved and missed by her human and feline sister, Chloee and her baby brother and best friend Ellis.

Until we meet again, thank you sweet girl for the love and the lessons.
